Carol Sparks Carol’s artistic nature blossomed as a child when she occasionally won school art competitions. She was asked to create seasonal artwork displays for her junior high library, and some of it traveled for exhibit at other schools in the region. As an 8th-grader she was awarded a scholarship to attend a special program at Syracuse University.
     Time and tide wait for no man…or woman. A lengthy career in university administration spanning eight universities across the country overtook Carol’s artistic endeavors. Ultimately the years of encouragement from her mother and her oldest friend to return to painting finally took root in opportunity.
     Carol has been painting once again since 1998. Acrylic was a new medium for her but she rapidly gained an affinity for it as her predominant medium. Good fortune brought her to the door of Jerome Grimmer two years ago and from whom she has learned much technique and refinement. Her concurrent education as a member of art groups has included positions as Treasurer of the Fine Arts League of Cupertino and presently Secretary of the Yosemite Western Artists. She is also a member of the Society of Western Artists and the Alliance of California Artists. Her love is evident in each painting. Because her heart is in the work, magic occurs for the viewer as well as the artist. Carol’s work may be seen at the Grimmer Gallery in Oakhurst, CA.
